Come and visit one of the old market towns in the whole of Cornwall, Penryn. Holidays in Penryn place you in a town that is thriving with history, with plenty of buildings dating back to Georgian, Jacobean and Tudor times. The West Cornwall town is now overshadowed by the nearby Falmouth but still has plenty to offer visitors looking for a holiday in Cornwall.
As soon as you arrive in town it’s hard not to be impressed by the magnificent architecture on many of the buildings that you will find in the town centre and the many winding roads that lead off of it. The town has been designated an important conservation area due to the historic nature of many of these buildings. At the foot of the town is a port that was once one of the busiest in the county. Today the town has a thriving arts community and many of their works can be seen throughout the town.
Penryn Museum is housed in the town hall and provides a fascinating insight into the past of this historic town, including a mummified rat that always provides a talking point during a tour. If you’d prefer a thrill during your holiday in Cornwall then Kernow Wake Park is the place to visit where you can take to the water and test your skills on the wake board. For further thrills you could head to Loe Beach Watersports Centre where you’ll find many more water based activities.
