South Cornwall has the perfect mix of seaside and rural life with pretty hamlets, quaint fishing ports and secret smuggler’s coves. South Cornwall also has many quiet sandy beaches and wonderful towns that offer you beautiful boutiques, independent shops and inspired places to eat overlooking the sea or the countryside. There are plenty of great beaches and attractions for family holidays, dog friendly holidays, or for something a little more romantic for perfect Cornwall holidays.

South Cornwall

The pretty harbour town of Fowey is just one of the beautiful locations to visit while on your holiday in South Cornwall. Fowey hosts a range of events throughout the year including the Fowey Festival, which celebrates the works of writer Daphne du Maurier who was born in the town, and of course the famous Regatta week!

Another popular location for a holiday in South Cornwall is Looe. Looe is divided into two sections, East Looe and West Looe, by the river that runs through the town and is renowned for its fresh fish. As it is still a small fishing port, the catches are brought back to the village daily to the benefit of the local cafes and restaurants. Just off the shore is where you will spot St George’s Island, more commonly known as Looe Island, which is owned by the Cornwall Wildlife Trust and open to visitors. The island itself measures around one mile in circumference.

The area is ideal for dog friendly holidays in Cornwall due to the amount of coastal and country walks that can be discovered here. The Lizard peninsula comprises tiny fishing villages in coastal locations and sub-tropical vegetation where around 15 of Britain’s rarest plant species can be found making it a colourful location throughout the year. It is for reasons such as these that the Lizard Peninsula has been designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and thus a great area to visit during your holiday in South Cornwall.

For a romantic break in Cornwall, South Cornwall can be an ideal location as the villages contain scenic views where you will be able to share a special period with a loved one. Similarly, the rural locations mean that you will be afforded the chance to find a quiet location to walk hand in hand and steal many a magical moment in a beautiful location together.
