Property code: MEAWE

Deceptively spacious property in the hamlet of Treween, right on the edge of Bodmin Moor. A perfect base to explore the breath-taking Cornish countryside and coast.

Why book a hotel room when you can have your own private, detached cottage and patio garden? Situated in the wonderfully tranquil hamlet of Treween, guests can spend their days walking on Bodmin Moor, relaxing on the beaches of Cornwall's Atlantic coast, or exploring the many beautiful seaside villages and towns such as Port Isaac, Tintagel, and Boscastle, all of which lie within 17 miles of the cottage.

Lift the latch on the gate and leave the world behind, entering your own country retreat, set within a private garden. In the summer months round off the day with sundowners on the patio, or in winter cosy up inside and enjoy a romantic evening with a glass of wine in front of the wood burner effect electric fire. Getting up in the mornings is a leisurely affair here, so switch off the alarm clock and wake up to the sound of bird song and the gentle light filtering through the bedroom's unusual stained-glass window.

The sleepy hamlet of Treween is tucked away next to the attractive village of Altarnun on the north-eastern edge of Bodmin Moor. There are many miles of trails to be enjoyed on the moor, or for a gentler stroll why not walk the half-mile to the village pub, on your way back stopping at St Nonna's. Known as the Cathedral on the Moor, this historic church has many beautiful features, including the 13th century font, and featured in both the novel Jamaica Inn and the TV series, Doc Martin.

A cosy, clean and comfortable cottage with a little more and better laid out space than the pictures suggested, I thought. Good WiFi and a decent TV for the room, a comfortable bed and useable outside space. All in a beautiful naturalistic and domestic setting, down lanes that can be challenging, but are manageable. We had a lovely time. The owners and their dog made us feel very welcome. The cottage is well equipped, clean and cosy. We were in a good position to get all over Cornwall and some of Devon. Top tip - satnav will take you down the worst roads ever. Find the A30 or A39 and go from there ALWAYS! Thanks for a great holiday.

What a wonderful stay. Probably the best equipped properly I have stayed in. Coffee, tea, milkandbiscuits were waiting on our arrival. Eating out was no fun with the wind but the king's head supplied take away food. You could cook a full meal if you wished. The garden was a suntrap. Smart tv. I wish the councils would forego parking and allow cateriRead moreng establishment to increase number of covers. Phil was great even advised of traffic problem on the way home.Ask Phil about lovely places. ThankUPhil Hide

Beautiful cottage. So peaceful and comfortable. The village is a short walk with a lovely hurch and stream flowing through. I would recommend the Kings Arms for lunch situated at 5 ways. We had a lovely friend in Elle the Black labradour who came to see us most days. Friendly people and a lovely place to stay.

North Cornwall

Embark on clifftop wanderings along the South West Coast Path to discover ancient myths and legends; King Arthur at Tintagel Castle, or the giant at the Bedruthan Steps. Surfers flock here to ride the famous swell that carved the dramatic coastline, and Bude and Newquay are havens for the sport. From sandy bays and beaches to the seafood delights of Padstow or thrills of Camel Creek Adventure Park, North Cornwall is brimming with things to do; trails to trek, cream teas to gobble, and adventure to be had.

West Cornwall

Let the history, romance and raw beauty of West Cornwall whisk you through time, into rocky coves and along sweeping sands to Land’s End where the UK slips into the Atlantic. Discover an oasis of flora owed to the rare geology of the Lizard peninsula. You can kayak around Godrevy Island, wander the galleries of St Ives, catch a performance at the open-air Minack Theatre, and still make it to Marazion for dinner: St Michael’s Mount makes the ultimate backdrop.

South Cornwall

Tucked away from the swell of the Atlantic pretty fishing harbours sleep, and lush carpets of greenery roll up to craggy cliffs. Discover the fishing and smuggling history in Kingsand and Cawsand, or walk the South West Coast Path from Fowey to the tiny tidal beach at Readymoney Cove. Sample local ales in St Austell before visiting Charlestown’s tall ships, the enchantments of the Eden Project, or The Lost Gardens of Heligan. From vibrant towns to secret beaches and exhilarating days out, the south has it all.
