Property code: OVERH

One of five attractive barn conversions in this farmland location, just a mile away from the pretty village of Polperro.

Cornwall is well-known for its agricultural heritage, stunning countryside and peaceful, rural locations, and Over The Hill has all of these, in abundance. Situated in a tranquil hillside location only a mile from the picturesque fishing village of Polperro, this property would make a great getaway for couples or small families (using the additional futon bed) looking to relax and unwind.

The traditional stone exterior gives the property a strong connection with its agricultural past and rural location. Inside the property, the open-plan lounge/kitchen/dining room on the first floor is spacious and light with its high ceilings and exposed beams. However, once evening falls and the wood burner is lit, the property will instantly feel warm and cosy. Over The Hill is surrounded by farmland, and guests are free to wander the grounds, taking in the play area with swings and a see-saw, a games area with nets for tennis, badminton and football, and the wildlife pond. Immerse yourself in the country life by feeding the chickens and ducks while you're there too.

A short country walk across the owner's fields leads you to Polperro, a popular fishing village with typically narrow streets and a stunning harbour with clear sea and rocky outcrops. Looe is only 5 miles away, another pretty fishing town with a range of shops and eateries to explore and delve into. From here, you can also enjoy a boat ride across to Looe island and appreciate the beauty of the South Cornish coastline from another perspective.

Lovely, peaceful and quiet location to be. Views amazing and owners really lovely. Everything you need in the cottage. Road is narrow to get to it but you get used to it and there are lots of narrow roads in Cornwall anyway.

Very well furnished, beautifully converted with solid wood doors and stairs. Lovely views, quiet, spotless and comfortable base to return to. Steep narrow road up from Polperro bit hairy if you met another vehicle, but there are other roads in to the cottage which are easier if a tad longer. Good location for coast path, Looe and Fowey. Great location, very quiet and peaceful. 20 minute walk into Polperro itself. Steep hill coming back which some may find challenging on foot. Some fantastic scenery around property, and on the South West Coast Footpath which is easily accessible. Narrow lanes to drive in a car, but that's what you get for the isolated location! Attractive, comfortable, and well equipped cottage. Lovely views and dark nights with countless stars to view. Access lanes are very narrow single track with very few passing places. Access from Polperro is very steep and not for the nervous driver, or frail walkers. WiFi access is mainly nil. But a great week was enjoyed.

This property has very good bones, but needs a little refreshing in our view. For a couple, the space is well sized, the bedroom and bathroom are both particularly spacious. Some of the equipment could do with an update, particularly the bed and the Wi-Fi, the latter just didnt work at all. If this could be sorted then we would highly recommend thiRead mores property. North Cornwall

Embark on clifftop wanderings along the South West Coast Path to discover ancient myths and legends; King Arthur at Tintagel Castle, or the giant at the Bedruthan Steps. Surfers flock here to ride the famous swell that carved the dramatic coastline, and Bude and Newquay are havens for the sport. From sandy bays and beaches to the seafood delights of Padstow or thrills of Camel Creek Adventure Park, North Cornwall is brimming with things to do; trails to trek, cream teas to gobble, and adventure to be had.

West Cornwall

Let the history, romance and raw beauty of West Cornwall whisk you through time, into rocky coves and along sweeping sands to Land’s End where the UK slips into the Atlantic. Discover an oasis of flora owed to the rare geology of the Lizard peninsula. You can kayak around Godrevy Island, wander the galleries of St Ives, catch a performance at the open-air Minack Theatre, and still make it to Marazion for dinner: St Michael’s Mount makes the ultimate backdrop.

South Cornwall

Tucked away from the swell of the Atlantic pretty fishing harbours sleep, and lush carpets of greenery roll up to craggy cliffs. Discover the fishing and smuggling history in Kingsand and Cawsand, or walk the South West Coast Path from Fowey to the tiny tidal beach at Readymoney Cove. Sample local ales in St Austell before visiting Charlestown’s tall ships, the enchantments of the Eden Project, or The Lost Gardens of Heligan. From vibrant towns to secret beaches and exhilarating days out, the south has it all.
