This beautiful character cottage occupies a great central position in the quaint and ever popular fishing village of St Mawes and provides a perfect coastal escape for couples and families alike.

This superb former fisherman's cottage, located just under half a mile from the ferry port to Falmouth (4 miles), promises a truly idyllic stay to guests. Quaint and cosy with plenty of coastal and nautical features, this property is an opportunity to experience a slower pace of life in a delightful village with a lovely selection of independent boutique shops and cafes. After a day out exploring, head home and enjoy an al fresco glass of wine in the evening sun on the enclosed patio, looking out at the sea.

Whether you're admiring the characterful wooden features around the house or sampling the ales in the traditional village pubs, no one will get bored here. Head up six steps to the front door and you'll find that the interiors embrace the soothing blue and white tones of the sea, so you're always reminded of where you are. The lounge is bright and airy during the day with a window seat to curl up on with a book, but once the wood burner is lit in the evening it becomes a relaxing haven among the original wood beams and comfy furniture. At bedtime, get comfy in one of the restful bedrooms reached via the original steep staircase.

Hop on the pedestrian ferry in the summer to St Anthony Head (1.5 miles) and walk the South West Coast Path among superb views in this little corner of Cornwall. For a busier pace of life, head to Truro (19 miles) for lots of shops and eateries. Pendennis Castle (18 miles), one of the finest fortresses built by Henry VIII, will delight history buffs and imaginative children, while Orca Sea Safaris (16.5 miles) offers a boat trip full of beautiful coastline and hopefully some dolphins, seals and maybe even basking sharks!

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Excellent cottage.Great location. Cosy and very well equipped. Have visited 3 years running and would go again. High step up from road which may be problem for some people.

North Cornwall

Embark on clifftop wanderings along the South West Coast Path to discover ancient myths and legends; King Arthur at Tintagel Castle, or the giant at the Bedruthan Steps. Surfers flock here to ride the famous swell that carved the dramatic coastline, and Bude and Newquay are havens for the sport. From sandy bays and beaches to the seafood delights of Padstow or thrills of Camel Creek Adventure Park, North Cornwall is brimming with things to do; trails to trek, cream teas to gobble, and adventure to be had.

West Cornwall

Let the history, romance and raw beauty of West Cornwall whisk you through time, into rocky coves and along sweeping sands to Land’s End where the UK slips into the Atlantic. Discover an oasis of flora owed to the rare geology of the Lizard peninsula. You can kayak around Godrevy Island, wander the galleries of St Ives, catch a performance at the open-air Minack Theatre, and still make it to Marazion for dinner: St Michael’s Mount makes the ultimate backdrop.

South Cornwall

Tucked away from the swell of the Atlantic pretty fishing harbours sleep, and lush carpets of greenery roll up to craggy cliffs. Discover the fishing and smuggling history in Kingsand and Cawsand, or walk the South West Coast Path from Fowey to the tiny tidal beach at Readymoney Cove. Sample local ales in St Austell before visiting Charlestown’s tall ships, the enchantments of the Eden Project, or The Lost Gardens of Heligan. From vibrant towns to secret beaches and exhilarating days out, the south has it all.
