An impressive and imposing detached character residence, this property has steps accessing the tidal Helford River on the edge of Helford Passage village in West Cornwall. You can bring your own small boat to launch and moor during your stay. You'll enjoy the beautiful antique furnishings and the constantly-changing river views. Sized for large families and groups, with plenty of space to gather and plan outings or talk over the day, it's your base for exploring this wonderful area.

With masses of original features this bright, spacious home recalls an elegant age. You can launch your own Cornish food revolution in the very well-equipped kitchen/diner, perhaps serving an extra-special dinner at the formal dining-room table. You've a choice of a sunny conservatory or elegant fireside seating for socialising, and outside in the peaceful riverside garden you can meander down steps amongst mature tree plantings to watch the turn of the tide.

With a boat you can have a wonderful time exploring the river, as far west as Gweek if you get the tide right. On land, footpaths criss-cross the area. A 1-mile walk along quiet lanes brings you to Trebah Garden and neighbouring Glendurgan Garden, whose subtropical plant collection will delight any gardener. In Helford Passage village, the famous Ferry Boat Inn has a warm welcome, and there is a ferry to cross the river here. For speciality shops, water activities and brilliant fish restaurants, Falmouth with its natural harbour is within 7 miles by road.

North Cornwall

Embark on clifftop wanderings along the South West Coast Path to discover ancient myths and legends; King Arthur at Tintagel Castle, or the giant at the Bedruthan Steps. Surfers flock here to ride the famous swell that carved the dramatic coastline, and Bude and Newquay are havens for the sport. From sandy bays and beaches to the seafood delights of Padstow or thrills of Camel Creek Adventure Park, North Cornwall is brimming with things to do; trails to trek, cream teas to gobble, and adventure to be had.

West Cornwall

Let the history, romance and raw beauty of West Cornwall whisk you through time, into rocky coves and along sweeping sands to Land’s End where the UK slips into the Atlantic. Discover an oasis of flora owed to the rare geology of the Lizard peninsula. You can kayak around Godrevy Island, wander the galleries of St Ives, catch a performance at the open-air Minack Theatre, and still make it to Marazion for dinner: St Michael’s Mount makes the ultimate backdrop.

South Cornwall

Tucked away from the swell of the Atlantic pretty fishing harbours sleep, and lush carpets of greenery roll up to craggy cliffs. Discover the fishing and smuggling history in Kingsand and Cawsand, or walk the South West Coast Path from Fowey to the tiny tidal beach at Readymoney Cove. Sample local ales in St Austell before visiting Charlestown’s tall ships, the enchantments of the Eden Project, or The Lost Gardens of Heligan. From vibrant towns to secret beaches and exhilarating days out, the south has it all.
