Thimble Lodge, Latchley | sleeps 2

This stylish log cabin in Cornwall will welcome you with its warm and rustic furnishings and breathtaking natural surroundings. With fantastic views across Tamar Valley, you can relax in the elevated garden while dining and taking in the scenery. Head down to The Tamar Valley Donkey Park, less than 3 miles from Thimble Lodge, visit the living museum that is Morwellham Quay (7 miles), or venture 5 miles down to the National Trust-managed Cotehele, a wonderful country house which you can explore. Reddivallen Lakeside Hut, Boscastle | sleeps 2

One now for adults looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life; this romantic retreat in Boscastle is set amongst rural scenery on the edge of a lake. A quirky lodge with a wood-fired hot tub, it provides relaxation as you can while away your days walking the hills and meandering trails in Cornish countryside before returning to indulge in a dip in the bubbling tub.

When you’re ready to head out and explore, a beautiful section of the North Cornwall coast awaits with Boscastle just 3 miles away, while Tintagel, with its majestic castle, is a 4-mile drive. If you fancy heading out further, you could take a trip to pretty Port Isaac (10 miles) or to the surfer beaches of Bude (19 miles). If that all seems like too much effort for a relaxing holiday getaway, simply stay in your cosy lodge and enjoy lazy days beside the lake.

Trewithen Meadowsweet, Boscastle | sleeps 4

This Scandinavian-style pine lodge is surrounded by pastureland, meadows and rural beauty. You can escape into the South West countryside in this dog-friendly lodge in Cornwall where French doors allow you to look out onto the lovely landscape. With a shared children’s playground to entertain little ones and distant views of Bodmin Moor, it’s the perfect peaceful getaway for a family-friendly country escape.

Pop into Launceston, just 8 miles down the A395, and on the way, you’ll pass by Trethorne Leisure Park, a great place to take youngsters in need of things to do while on holiday and perfect for rainy days. If you fancy a city trip, take the ferry from Torpoint (7 miles) across the River Tamar to Plymouth for a bustling atmosphere, excellent shopping and many exciting attractions.
