Visit Port Isaac

Fans of Doc Martin will recognise Port Isaac, the attractive fishing village where the TV drama is filmed. The vibrant local community offers a look back to Cornish days of yore, with narrow, winding streets lined with whitewashed fishermen’s cottages and traditional granite, slate-fronted Cornish houses sloping their way down to the harbour, where local fishermen land their daily catch of fish, crab and lobsters.

A Local's Guide to Port Isaac

An enchanting little village on the rugged north coast of Cornwall, Port Isaac is home to Doc Martin, the endearingly named 'squeezy belly alley' and a maze of narrow streets inviting you to explore.

A guide to filming locations in Cornwall

Cornwall has long been used for the backdrop and location of several well-known films throughout the decades. From smaller productions to big blockbusters, the Cornish landscape has offered a spectacular range of films sets from the stunning shoreline shots of Newquay in the Pirates of the Caribbean series to the charming setting of Mevagissey in the hit comedy film Bad Education.

A colourful village

Two steep hillsides shelter the narrow streets down to Port Isaac’s pretty harbour in the centre of the village, where you’ll also find a small beach. Down at the harbour you’ll be able to see the colourful fishing boats and watch as the fishermen bring their daily catch to shore.

There are a number of shops in the village, as well as numerous pubs and restaurants where you can enjoy fresh seafood and local delicacies. These include The Mote, The Golden Lion and two run by celebrity chef Nathan Outlaw: Restaurant Nathan Outlaw and Outlaw’s Fish Kitchen.

Set amidst rugged and magnificent scenery on the North Cornwall coast, you’ll find Port Quin and Port Gaverne, two other beautiful ports, nearby, while you’ll be well-connected to the South West Coast Path and its variety of wonderful walks.

We have plenty of Port Isaac self-catering accommodation to choose from, offering some wonderful sea views from this traditional Cornish fishing village.
