Surrounded by land that is managed by the National Trust, Mullion is a large village on the Lizard Peninsula which remains rural and peaceful. The grassland that surrounds the village features many rare plants and provides an excellent place for a peaceful walk along the South West Coast Path or picnic in the lush West Cornwall countryside.
Kynance Cove is a stunning beach close to Mullion and although it can be difficult to access, it is well worth the challenge of getting there to spend time
on one of the most beautiful beaches in the UK. Be sure to check the tide times when visiting Kynance Cove as the beach becomes cut off at high tide which
leaves stunning views of the serpentine rocks and the perfect excuse to stop off a café and watch the waves crash against the rocks.
As you move along the coast you’ll be greeted with plenty more beautiful beaches and coves on this stretch of coastline from Porthleven round to
Porthallow. The closest beach to Lizard Point (the most southern point of England) is Housel Bay which like Kynance Cove is cut off at high tide but has
stunning views of the rugged Cornish coastline and the Celtic Sea.
Filled with lovely craft shops, as well as cafés, inns, restaurants and galleries, Mullion has a beautiful harbour that gives an air of tranquility. Its
location on the Lizard Peninsula, an area renowned for its beauty and wonderful wildlife, means a Cornwall holiday in Mullion will give you plenty of
chances to take in all the breath-taking experiences that this area has to offer.
Mullion Cove offers exceptional walks but be careful to look out for smugglers and pirates! In the village there is a beautiful 15th Century church that
gives a wonderful insight into the history of the village. With carved benches that show off the famous biblical scenes and amazing windows, Mullion’s
church of St Mellanus is certainly something that should not to be missed!
