A Local's Guide to Polperro

Everything you might expect of an idyllic old fishing village. Cottages cling to the cliffs, fish and chips ships are dotted throughout the village and the harbour has shallow turquoise waters, perfect for paddling.

The prettiest harbours in Cornwall

We’ve rounded up a fantastic selection of the best harbours in Cornwall to entice you to get some fresh sea air at one of these amazing spots.

A bustling town

Dotted with shops and places to eat, the town’s beautifully-named 13th century pub Crumplehorn Inn is 10 minutes from the centre and serves traditional food and local ales in a relaxed atmosphere. The Three Pilchards, the oldest pub in Polperro, is also well worth a visit.

If you venture to this part of Cornwall for New Year, nearby Looe has some of the best celebrations in the country, and at any time of year there is the Fowey ferry. Treks along the South West Coast Path offer beautiful views towards St. George’s Island, and you can take a boat trip to discover the many hidden coves that would have been the main attraction for the pirates. Every June, the food festival provides street entertainment, live music and plenty of community spirit. There’s never a dull moment in Polperro.
