Visit Praa Sands

Praa Sands is a mecca for surfers and a paradise for families. The small Cornish village overlooks the expansive sandy beach and is backed by beautiful sand dunes. It is perfect for building sandcastles, splashing around in the shallows or paddling ‘out back’ for some serious wave-age. Watch all the goings-on from one of the many cafes, take a saunter around the shops or go and scout in the rockpools of Bessy’s Cove.

A Local's Guide to Praa Sands

A popular surfing destination on the beautiful south coast of Cornwall, Praa Sands is home to a fabulous white sandy beach as well as amazing coastal walking, water sports and excellent seafood restaurants.

The prettiest harbours in Cornwall

We’ve rounded up a fantastic selection of the best harbours in Cornwall to entice you to get some fresh sea air at one of these amazing spots.

A sandy sanctuary

Praa Sands is the perfect place in which to base your holiday. A expanse of soft sand is laced with sand dunes and The Sandbar Cafe sits temptingly, with a balcony that overlooks the beach. The shoreline is lapped by shallow water, but as you get deeper, the waves become larger and at certain times of the year, are classy, glassy and big! Always check the weather, tide times and the local surf report as it is one of North Cornwall’s premier surfing beaches, but there is room for all.

Out of the water, there are many cafes, bars and shops and coastal walks in all directions. The beach is dog-friendly all winter and in the summer after 7pm. There are several pubs in the village, including The Coach and Horses with locally-sourced food that is said to be the ‘best pub food in Cornwall’.
